Woodbury is seeking a part time, enthusiastic and thoughtful qualified teacher to join our wonderful team of special educators, behaviour analysts and therapists.
Teacher – School based position, Monday to Friday, – Part time – Fixed term position
- Have completed a university-based degree
- Be eligible for accreditation under the Institute of Teachers Act 2004 (New South Wales) and comply with mandatory accreditation requirements. •
- Have a working knowledge of New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements.
- Comprehensive proficiency in lesson planning, curriculum development and teaching in individual and group settings.
- Have an interest in working with individuals with Autism in a school-based setting, specifically using behaviour analysis.
- Willingness to commence and/or continue training in principles and skills of ABA.
- Demonstrate a happy, caring and positive personality • Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Be committed to personal and professional quality improvement
- Keep up to date with current research and identify area’s for further professional development
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work collaboratively in an integrated setting consisting of special educators, behaviour analysts, therapists, and parents.
- Demonstrate good time management and organization skills. Have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a small team
- Demonstrate the ability to lead a team and promote co-operation across multiple roles within the school environment
• Experience in working in special education • Knowledge and application of teaching aspects of ABA
Woodbury School for Autism offers outstanding educational and related services for students with autism spectrum disorder, for children aged 3-12 years of age. Our early intervention centre and primary school offer a high degree of structure, excellent staff to student ratio and the systematic use of behavioural teaching techniques. A large focus is placed on the area of group instruction and the ability to independently and successfully participate in a wider community of social and academic settings. Students are assigned to classrooms based on the level of support they need to be successful within their daily teaching activities. Goals related to education, behaviour support, communication, language and functional life skills are customised to meet each child’s needs. A collaborative approach between teaching staff, ABA/ behaviour specialists and speech and language pathology is utilised to maximise student’s progress.
